Glenna Carlson, Coordinator
Glenna lives in Alix, has 3 children and 4 grandchildren with one on the way. Glenna has her social worker diploma. She loves reading, volunteering, working in her yard, going to movies, and spending time with her family and friends.

 


Patrick G. Lynch, Chairperson
The Lynch’s moved to Alix in December of 1993. Community involvement has been an important part of their small town life. Patrick volunteered for the position of Deputy Director of Disaster Services and soon after became the Director, was a member of Lions Club, and was elected a Village Councillor in a by-election. While on Council, Patrick was involved with the Library, the Arena, the Fire Department, and the Alix FCSS. After Council, Patrick stayed on with the Arena and now is past President and has been with Alix FCSS serving as Vice Chairperson. 

 


Connie Brooks, Co-Chair of Alix FCSS.
Connie joined the FCSS board in 2010 and is also the Family School Liaison at the Alix Mac School and has held this position since 2008. She previously worked 8 years at Mirror School. Connie s a registered Social Worker and has a Bachelor of Professional  Arts in Human Services Degree. Connie enjoys working with Glenna and the FCSS Committee Members and is ooking forward to collaborating with Glenna to bring creative programming to the school and community.

 

Ramona Gartner, Treasurer

Ramona has 2 school age children, Talayna and Tyler. She is involved with the school parent council, United Church board and Arena board.  In recent years, she has facilitated groups for Parentlink such as "Mom and Tots" and for Satinwood "Saturday Morning Fun Times".  Working on a casual basis for Canada Post and doing bookwork for her husband's trucking business keeps Ramona very busy as well. 

 


Carol Friestadt, Board Member
Carol was born in Stettler, and raised in Alix. She is married to Len Friestadt, has 4 children and 4 grandchildren. Carol attended Ryan Secretary School, worked at the FCSS office in Stettler, as well as clerked in various stores in Stettler. Carol is now retired, living in Alix, and enjoys golf and curling.


Jill Hillman, Board Member

Jill has lived in Alix her whole life. She has worked for the school for 9 years and ran the preschool  program for 7 years. She spends much of her off time volunteering. Jill is an active volunteer on the Alix Fire Department, FCSS board and Food Bank.

 

 


Deb Domier, Board Member
Deb has been a Board Member since 2009. Deb lives in Alix and runs a dayhome. She is married with three children and loves reading, swimming ,biking, andsewing. Deb has a degree in Interior Design and a degree in Clothing and Textile. Deb also loves to travel.

 

Jean McDermand, Board Member
Born in 1934, Edmonton to Gladys and Peter Clark, Jean was educated in Alix and Red Deer. Married Art McDermand in 1952, they have six children, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Jean has been an active member of Alix and Community for 73 years. She is President of Alix UCW, Food Convener, on the Library board, and has been on FCSS board since its conception. For 20 years Jean and Art have picked up and delivered household goods and clothing for people in need. Jean also supplies meals to shut-ins.
